Self adhesive laminate for laminating the sides of your existing units and carcasses. To match all our Knockholt doors, sold by the linear metre in 640mm width. The application of self-adhesive is very similar to the application of "Fablon". The self-adhesive laminate has a powerful adhesive on the reverse side, which will bond with enormous strength to the side of any kitchen cabinet. Make sure that the surface to which you are applying the self-adhesive to is clean, smooth and dry. Do not sand it down and do not use silicone polish. The most important part of the process is to ensure that the laminate is not applied crooked so that it runs off and misses one corner of the cabinet. The best way to achieve this is to cut the width off the laminate so that it is approx. 1" wider than the side of your cabinet and cut the length of the laminate so it is 1" longer than the height of your cabinet. Then, with the backing paper still in place, hold it up to the cabinet to ensure that is the correct size. To stick the laminate to the cabinet side, peel back a small portion of the backing paper and lightly press the laminate onto the cabinet. Double-check that the laminate is positioned properly so that, once the backing paper is peeled off, it will be properly aligned. Once you are happy that the position is correct, peel the backing paper off a little at a time pressing the laminate firmly onto the cabinet. It can sometimes help to use a smoothing iron (ensuring the setting is no higher than nylon) or warm it with a hairdryer and press down by hand to ensure the laminate is in complete contact with the cabinet. Once the laminate is firmly secured, trim around all the edges to finish the installation.
